Healthy and environmentally conscious eateries in Berlin – Luxiders Guide

Superfoods & Organic Liquids

As the name implies, fresh and healthy organic superfoods can be found in abundance at each of the Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte and Charlottenburg branches. Starting your day right is easy with a huge choice of nutritious breakfast bowls: smoothie bowls, bircher muesli bowls, chia bowls, yoghurt bowls and porridge bowls in various flavours with customisable toppings. Their breakfast bowls, superfood salads and quinoa bowls are ready to take away in compostable packaging for a super-fast, super-convenient yet super-healthy meal. With a daily soup, gluten-free and low-carb sandwiches, fresh pressed juices and a huge range of smoothie options, you’ll never leave hungry! For a sweet treat pair a coconut-rice milk matcha latte with a matcha cookie or opt for an oat milk cappuccino and the raw cacao bliss balls.

Lücks

This little plant-based sanctuary in Friedrichshain serves fresh, seasonal and vibrant food. Everything from the pesto to the burger buns is homemade. Hearty yet healthy dishes include sweet potato pasta with a “cheesy” vegetable sauce, a tempeh burger, a creamy mushroom stroganoff, red beetroot risotto and a fully raw wrap option. If you manage to get a reservation for their weekend brunch buffet, you’ll be lucky enough to sample their vegan take on scrambled eggs.

Jivamukti Canteen

Like the Jivamukti yoga studio, the Jivamukti canteen in Mitte promotes love and compassion for ourselves, others and our planet. Plant-based breakfast bowls, soups, salads and stews are prepped in reusable “jivajars” and you can buy your own reusable coffee cup, straw, bowl and water bottle there and then. To showcase their commitment to organic and seasonal produce, they welcome customers into their kitchen to see the ingredients for themselves. After a nourishing soup and sandwich with extra vegan bacon, tuck into the banana bread with almond butter and maple syrup.

Kaffeebar

Kreuzberg-based Kaffeebar believes in healthy eating that tastes good and is sustainable. Their coffee, sweet treats, juices and brunch items are all homemade and there is something for everyone from eggs benedict to a vegan buddha bowl. Just be sure to leave room for their cookies, or energy balls for the health-conscious!

K-fetisch

Unlike other cafes, K-fetish is a self-sufficient collective business run by a team of likeminded individuals who all share an anti-discriminatory consensus amongst left-wing and anti-national political beliefs. Their goal is to support and promote diversity by creating a space where everyone feels comfortable; fair service, fair food and fair prices for every customer. Head to Neukölln for one of their spelt croissants and a coffee (or cocktail) on ice with an optional side of political discussion.
