  • Old fashioned rolled oats
  • Maple syrup — this can be adjusted for how sweet you’d like your baked oats to be.
  • Baking powder
  • Whole egg — no need to worry about having it chilled or room temperature.

  • Banana — make sure it’s ripe!
  • Semi sweet chocolate chips or chunks

How to Make the Baked Oatmeal

  • Prepare the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the rack in the middle of your oven.
  • Blend up the ingredients: In a blender, blend all the ingredients together, except for the add-ins (chocolate chunks, sprinkles, white chocolate wafer chips) until nice and smooth.
  • Add the batter to the ramekin: Spray the ramekin with baking spray. Pour in the batter and top with the add-ins (chocolate chunks, sprinkles, white chocolate wafer chips). You can also push some of the chunks of chocolate or sprinkles in the batter if you want them incorporated inside the dough as well.

  • Bake the oatmeal: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Depending on your oven it may take a little less or a little more. So just check for doneness at around 20 minutes. The dough should not be jiggly in any way, but you also do not want to over cook.
  • Cool and enjoy: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Drizzle some melted chocolate and/or creamy peanut butter on top or your favorite topping.

Tips and Notes for Making the Best Baked Oats

  • This is a baked oats recipe with milk. You can swap the milk for any type of milk such as almond milk.
  • Be sure to measure the baking powder and don’t eye-ball it. The baking powder helps the baked oats rise and keeps it from being dense and heavy. Too much and it’ll change the taste of the baked oatmeals.
  • Be sure to use a high speed blender for this Tik Tok baked oats recipe. You want the ingredients to be well blended. A smaller blender might be helpful in this recipe so the blade gets all of the ingredients. If you only have a large blender, you might have to scrape down the sides as you blend.
  • Due to the batter’s thickness, you’ll have to stir the stir in the chocolate chips/sprinkles/mix-ins if you want it mixed inside of the dough. If you don’t they will just stay near the top of the batter. On the positive side, the mix-ins don’t sink!
  • The maple syrup can be swapped for honey if you’d prefer.
  • These baked oats last for 2 to 3 days in the fridge.
  • I recommend using a Dutch processed cocoa powder as it is darker and fudgier. My go-to brand is Ghirardelli.

Are baked oats a healthy breakfast recipe?

Even though the texture is like cake and we put chocolates and sprinkles on top, this baked oatmeal is healthy! At the end of the day, it’s oatmeal! And oatmeal is a healthy way to start the day off.

Is this Tik Tok baked oats gluten-free?

This baked oatmeal is gluten-free since oatmeal is naturally gluten-free, but you always make sure of that by getting certified gluten free oats.

What size ramekin do I use for these baked oats?

I use 8 oz. ramekins. If you do not have an 8oz ramekin, you can use two smaller ones. Just check on your oats easier as the bake time will be less with a smaller ramekin.

Can I use steel cut oats instead of old fashioned oatmeal for baked oats?

No, do not use steel cut oats to make baked oats. The baked oats blend up rolled oats which essentially has it acting as oat flour. Steel cut oats will not give you the same effect.

How do I reheat baked oatmeal?

You can quickly reheat baked oats in the microwave for a minute.

Can I add protein powder to baked oats?

You can definitely add a tablespoon of protein powder to your baked oats batter (vanilla and chocolate flavored protein powder goes well with these baked oats).

What else can I add to baked oats?

Add whatever you wish to these baked oats! You can add some fruit such as blueberries to these baked oats before or after baking to change things up.

Can I make baked oats vegan?

You can swap the egg for a flax egg to make it vegan and use almond, oat, or coconut milk instead of whole milk. Be sure to also use vegan butter or substitute the butter with non flavored coconut oil.

What if my banana isn’t ripe?

Did you know you can bake at 300F bananas to ripen them? The skin will turn black but the banana will ripen. This method is great when you need something for baked goods since the banana will be soft and perfect for mashing.

What if I don’t have a blender?

Instead of using oatmeal, you can use oat flour and mix the ingredients by hand. Just be sure everything is thoroughly combined before baking.
